Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story was awarded Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor (John Regala), Best Screenplay (Roi Inglesias and Rey Ventura), Best Production Design, Best Original Theme Song and Best Cinematography (Carlo Mendoza).
manila kingpin:asiong salonga story is an official entry of the 2011 metro manila film film film festtival.produced by scenema and concept international(released trought viva films) and under the direction of tikoy aguilluz, the film star goerge 'e'r' estregan in the little role, with carla abellana and phillip salvador. " manila kingpin" is based on the story of the notorious gang, whose true-to-life accounts had been portrayeed in several movie version since 1961(starring joseph streda). it also the first filipino mojor film produced in the black-and-white in the 21st century as well as the returnng action genre movie.

The film was also honored with the prestigious Gatpuno Villegas Cultural Award.

Mobster Asiong Salonga (ER Ejercito) rules the mean streets of Manila with an iron fist—until he is betrayed by a trusted friend. Graded “A” by the Cinema Evaluation Board (CEB), the period flick had a budget of P75 million, relates lead actor Ejercito. “We shot it with Alexa, a top-of-the-line digital camera, and converted the footage to black-and-white,” he recalls. The production design team turned Pagsanjan, Laguna, into 1950s Tondo. Ejercito insists that the goal is not to be the festival box-office top-grosser. “Our objective is to make a quality film that we can proudly send to festivals abroad.” He is pleased with the high mark from the CEB. “It made us forget all the hardships and sleepless nights.”
